With heavy hearts, we announce
the passing of our cherished friend and team member, Elise Dione Finch
Henriques. For 16 years, Elise graced WCBS with her presence, leaving an
indelible mark on all who knew her.
Elise joined our team in 2007
as the weekend meteorologist, and her talent and dedication soon led her to
become an integral part of our morning news with Mary Calvi and Chris Wragge.
More recently, she delighted viewers alongside Cindy Hsu on the 9 a.m.
newscast, bringing her radiant energy to each broadcast.
Beyond her professional
prowess, Elise was a beloved figure in the community, especially in her
hometown of Mount Vernon. Her warm and engaging presence touched the lives of
many, and she took great pride in representing her roots with grace and
authenticity.
As our bright morning light,
Elise's enthusiasm for her work was truly infectious. Rain or shine, she
fearlessly reported on major weather events, often braving the elements to keep
our audience informed.
Her accolades were
well-deserved, as Elise was a multiple award-winner in her field. A Mount
Vernon High School alumna, she also graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree
from Georgetown University, where she earned the prestigious President's Award.
Her pursuit of excellence continued with a Master of Science degree in
broadcast journalism from Syracuse University.
Elise's passion for the
entertainment industry, particularly the music world, was palpable. As a
self-professed superfan of Janet Jackson, she conducted unforgettable
interviews with her favorite singers, captivating audiences with her genuine
admiration.
Beyond her professional
accomplishments, Elise found love with her soulmate, Graig Henriques, whom she
met at CBS New York. Their joyous union in a beautiful wedding ceremony at
Untermyer Gardens almost a decade ago was a cherished moment for all who knew
her. Elise and Graig were blessed with a beautiful daughter named Grace, and
the stories she shared about motherhood were a testament to her loving and
nurturing spirit.
Elise's untimely passing has
left us all in shock and sorrow, trying to make sense of how such a vibrant
soul could leave us so soon. Her dedication to her craft and her infectious
smile will forever be etched in our hearts.
Elise passed away at a local
hospital, and the cause of her death remains unknown. As we mourn her loss, we
celebrate the joy, warmth, and inspiration she brought into our lives every
day. Elise Finch, forever in our hearts, forever remembered.
