Jakarta - Indonesia's remarkable achievement as the overall champion at the 13th WorldSkills ASEAN 2023 is being hailed as a special anniversary gift to the nation, according to Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah.

 

Attending the "Welcoming and Appreciation of Indonesian Delegates Competing at the 13th WorldSkills ASEAN Singapore" event in Jakarta on Saturday, Minister Fauziyah expressed her delight at the competitors who brought immense pride to the country.

 

"This is the most beautiful gift for the 78th anniversary of Indonesia's independence," she remarked.

 

She went on to encourage the delegates to view the competition as a valuable experience that can inspire them to further enhance their skills.

 

In recognition of the delegates' outstanding success at the international-level event, the government will be rewarding them with cash incentives. Gold medalists will receive up to Rp25 million (US$1,600), silver medalists will get Rp20 million (US$1,300), bronze medal winners will be awarded Rp15 million (US$1,000), and those receiving the medallion of excellence will obtain Rp12.5 million (US$800).

 

"The delegates truly deserve these awards for their exceptional performance, which led Indonesia to emerge as the overall champion of the competition," she emphasized.

 

Furthermore, as a gesture of appreciation, all delegates will receive certificates of participation from Singapore, the host country of the event.

 

Minister Fauziyah highlighted that this incredible achievement was the result of the dedicated efforts of the competitors, experts, training center leaders, and sponsors who provided unwavering support.

 

The 13th WorldSkills ASEAN brought together talented youths from ASEAN countries to showcase their skills in 22 vocational fields. At the conclusion of the competition, Indonesia stood tall as the overall champion, securing an impressive haul of 14 gold medals, eight silver medals, three bronze medals, and two medallions of excellence.

 

This outstanding victory not only exemplifies Indonesia's prowess in various vocational fields but also serves as a source of inspiration for the nation's continued growth and success on the international stage.
