Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, has recently unveiled the deepened collaboration between Indonesia and China, marking a significant step towards various shared objectives. With the endorsement from Indonesian President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and Chinese President Xi Jinping, the partnership aims to focus on high-level research and technology, healthcare advancements, and the development of North Kalimantan.

In an official statement on Friday, July 28, 2023, Luhut highlighted a crucial area of this collaboration: the development of Indonesia's new capital, Nusantara. The joint efforts between the IKN Authority and the Shenzhen City Government are set to play a pivotal role in the meticulous urban planning process for the new capital, complementing contributions from other partner countries, including the United Arab Emirates.

To ensure smooth progress, the government has scheduled a return visit to Shenzhen within the next six months. This visit aims to secure detailed urban planning designs, providing the foundation for the seamless execution of the development plan for Nusantara.

Beyond official discussions, the bilateral meeting fostered a warm and amicable atmosphere, enabling the two leaders to engage in personal conversations. Among the topics touched upon was the renowned Durian fruit. President Jokowi playfully suggested that President Xi consider cultivating durian in Indonesia if he enjoys the unique fruit.

Luhut emphasized that the success of this collaboration with China rests on the alignment of visions between the two nations. United by principles of equality and justice, both Indonesia and China welcome the opportunities to work together in achieving sustainable development.

This strengthened partnership not only opens doors for technological advancements and healthcare collaborations but also underscores the commitment of both countries to forging a sustainable and prosperous future for their citizens. As this collaboration progresses, it holds the potential to bring about transformative changes for both nations and foster mutual growth across various domains.
